Hello, Cupcake!

by Derwood Hunsdale-Talbot on October 28, 2008

Who says we only have to review literary classics, chick lit and novels about death? How about a cupcake cookbook? Hello, Cupcake! from Alan Richardson and Karen Tack is a really fun trip through some of the most creative cupcakes for a lot of different occasions. Not just your birthday party and Christmas styles, but great ideas in general that you could use anytime! Animals, holidays, Van Gogh paintings and food!

When I say food I mean creating cupcakes that look like other food! That section was by far my favorite. Someday I fully intend to recreate the tv dinner cupcakes, which featured “corn” of lemon Starbursts and buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jellybeans, “peas” and one of the coolest projects, which was spaghetti and meatballs using strawberry jam and frosting drizzled in rope form to create the “noodles.”

There are plenty of ideas here for inspiration or recreation, depending on how creative you want to get. The styles are pretty time intensive to re-create, so be sure to budget yourself plenty of time if you decide to create 24 terriers or bull dogs cupcakes. The alligator is one giant piece that requires all 24 cupcakes, but is by no means a project you can whip up on a whim. These are pretty much cupcake works of art!

Be sure to check out the customer images on the Amazon product page and you can see some of those works of art in action!
